Meet Sabina Kane – half vampire, half mage, and full blooded assassin. Sabina thought her role in life was clear – obey the Domina (also known as her grandmother), don’t ask too many questions, and don’t expect much in return.
But, events start to roll that force Sabina to question all of the things she thinks she knows about her life, her past, and the unraveling reality of her future.
All right folks, I need your help with this one. This author was recommended to me so I dove into the first book, Red-Headed Stepchild, with much gusto. The book was pretty good and had me looking forward to reading to the next one.
Aaaaand then I found myself becoming annoyed with Sabina – especially in book 3 (don’t worry, no spoilers) – and I scratched my head. I read reviews about the book, most of them positive, so why was I finding myself wondering when the newest Ilona Andrews’ book was going to be released?
Right now, I’m about 20 pages into the latest installment, Blue-Blooded Vamp. Yawn. I felt this need to grind through the series just to make sure I gave it a chance. I mean, it’s not terrible, but I don’t feel attached to the characters like I do with other authors.
Is it just me? Am I coming at this series at the wrong angle and completely missing something fascinating? I don’t get it. If you have already read these books, I would really like to know your thoughts.
